GREEN CLASSROOMS: ALLONS PUBLIC SCHOOL (NEW SAINIK SCHOOL) STUDENTS SEED FUTURE SKILLS AT LOCAL VEGETABLE FARM

Under the progressive mandates of the National Education Policy (NEP-2020) and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE-2023), the Eco Club of Allons Public School (New Sainik School), Bemetara, Chhattisgarh, organized an experiential educational visit to a fruit and vegetable farm today, 25 August 2026.

The field trip targeted the middle school cohort, engaging students from Classes 6, 7, and 8 to bridge the gap between textbook concepts and real-world agricultural practices under the Kaushal Bodh (Skill Development) initiative.

1.      Learning Objectives of the Visit :

• Botanical Literacy: To identify and classify indigenous fruits and vegetables commonly grown across Chhattisgarh.

• Scientific Inquiry: To understand the taxonomical classification of crops by learning their common names, scientific names, and nutritional uses.

• Anatomical Understanding: To identify and distinguish different edible plant parts (roots, stems, leaves, fruits) consumed in daily diets.

• Agricultural Innovation: To expose students to modern, sustainable farming technologies including hydroponics and automated drip irrigation.

• Agronomy Skills: To practically observe the transplantation process of delicate seedlings from nursery growing trays to the main crop fields.

2.      Key Highlights & Experiential Learning :

Guided by a dedicated team of faculty members—Ms. P. Nagamani, Dr. Anurag Tripathi, Mr. Himanshu, Ms. Imani Das, Mr. Kapil Sharma, Ms. Prateeksha, and Ms. Garima—the students immersed themselves in a living laboratory.

                    I.            Flora of Chhattisgarh: Students catalogued regional produce, mapping out their scientific nomenclature, lifecycle, and nutritional benefits.

                 II.            Soilless Farming Technology: The children analyzed hydroponics systems, observing how plants thrive efficiently using nutrient-rich water solutions without soil.

              III.            Micro-Irrigation Systems: The farm showcased the drip irrigation method, demonstrating water conservation in action. Teachers turned this into an interactive assignment, challenging students to research and find the local terminology used by regional farmers for these techniques.

              IV.            The Nursery-to-Field Pipeline: Students witnessed the delicate agricultural art of transplantation, learning the exact mechanics of shifting young saplings from specialized germination trays into open fields.

 3.      Administrative Vision & Leadership Remarks :

The initiative beautifully reflected the school’s core philosophy, aligning visionary intent with successful, practical execution.

·         Director Mrs. Ruchi Arora, who initiated and championed this field study, emphasized the institutional commitment behind the project:

By stepping beyond the confines of traditional classrooms into a living laboratory, Allons Public School (New Sainik School) has successfully demonstrated how academic theory can be translated into vital life skills, fostering a new generation of environmentally conscious and practically skilled young citizens.
